5/28/2011

This morning I woke up to Ry talking to himself or singing to himself. I heard Colton fuss a little while later and then start to cry. I heard Ry comforting him "It's ok Colton, don't cry, I right here. Don't cry baby brother" I figured I'd get up at that point and expected to see Ry peeking in at C through the crib... NOPE, he was laying in bed next to Colton. He was probably crying because Ry squished him or something. I'm gonna need a crib tent not to keep my little kid IN, but to keep my big kid OUT.

Poor Birdie

I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth and if you read my last post you can imagine the panic I felt when I heard Ry trying to open the front door. I bolted into the living room and asked him where he thought he was going. (thank goodness the deadbolt was on and he couldnt get out) He said, "theres a bird next to Meowzie!" I said, "so? Meowzie is fine, a bird wont hurt him." I opened the door to show him how fine Meowzer was and I saw a dead bird on the lawn. Ry looks and sees the bird and tells me "Meowzie STOMPED him."

Almost the worst day of my life

Colton has been sleeping in his crib in Ry's room and woke up at 2 and 4 am. I brought him into my room at 4 since I thought he was waking Ry up too much. In the morning Colton woke me up at 8:45 and this was slightly odd because Ry has been waking me up at 8 on Monday mornings. I figured Ry was tired for all the middle of the night wakings, so I fed Colton. When Colton was done eating (9:00 by now) I thought I'd get a jump on the day before Ry got up. I went to his room to check on him but he wasn't in his bed. I thought "oh maybe Rex thought it was Tuesday and brought Ry to daycare..." I called Rex and asked him "did you take Ry to daycare today?" he said "no why would I do that?" A wave of panic came over me and I told Rex that Ry wasn't in his bed, I hung up the phone and ran to the living room to see if he was watching TV, then I ran to Ry's bedroom again and checked behind his bed, in Colton's crib, then in the bathroom I checked the bathtub, I checked to see if he had actually crawled in bed with me and was lying on Rex's side and maybe i didnt notice, I ran through the dining room kitchen and laundry room. NO RY-RY. I flung the back door open and screamed his name, I didn't see him in the yard at all and I was about to run back into the house to call 911 when Ry stood up at my feet. I fell to my knees (almost dropping poor Colton) and grabbed Ry and cried. We both cried and I called Rex saying that I found him.

All day I couldn't help but think about what would have happened if he went out the front door instead of the back, he could have wandered to the street gotten kidnapped or lost. I get all weepy thinking about it. And he must have been so scared. I can't even imagine what he thought when he was locked out and no one came to get him.

I asked Ry why he went outside by himself and he said "moeowzie bit me!" Rex left the house that morning at 7:30 and let meowzer in, when I woke up at 845 meowzer wasn't in the house. So we figure that Ry got up between 730 and 830 and meowzer was in his room (which he doesnt like) he must have then gotten into a fight and chased Meowzer out of the house and gotten himself locked out in the process (our doors can be opened from the inside but lock behind you when you go outside) He also said he was finding Daddy so he might have been looking for Rex.

Daddy: Colton's been sleeping in his crib pretty well hasn't he?
Mommy: Yep, so far...
Bubbs: I wanna see so far!

I called Rex and said "It's time for you to come change this stinky tail" (Ry had a tail hangin out of his diaper) Rex comes in and tells Ry, "lets go change your diaper" Ry says "No change my tail!"

While watching Ratatouille Ry notices Colette riding away on her motorcycle and asks me "Where her helmet???" SHAME on you Disney/Pixar for setting a bad example!

Mommy's Day Off

Today was Colton's second trial run at his auntie's daycare. (Hes much more of a mommas boy than Ry was so he needs a little transition time.) So I was baby free until around 3 when I'd pick the boys up a little earlier than if Rex were to pick them up. I made plans for a nice massage at Watercourse Way in Palo Alto.

Colton decided to wake me up a little early before he had to go on his way at 5am. When Rex was ready to take the boys at 7 I got up and tried to nurse him one more time and then got him into his carseat and sent them on their way. I should have just gone back to bed and enjoyed my time sleeping in, but I was too tired to pump last night so I needed to just pump, afterwards I would go to bed... right? I pumped and the washer was beeping for some odd reason. When I was done pumping I tried to hit "cancel" on the washer to make it stop beeping. That didn't work so decided to just run it and make it stop. I didn't want to do a load of laundry so I ran it with a "washing machine cleaner" and went to watch TV. Before I sat down I saw that I still had my pumping bottles that needed cleaning. I threw them in the dishwasher and loaded the rest of the dishes so I could run that and have my bottles cleaned for ny next pumping. I noticed that I had a load of laundry that needed folding, so I folded that.

After my cleaning cycle ran I heard a few more beeps and thought "oh crap its still not fixed" I got up to actually unplug the washer because there was no way that I was going to listen to that all morning. Turns out it was just the end of cycle alarm. While I was in there I decided to run some of my laundry because I  wanted to run something before I next ran a cycle of baby clothes in case not all of the cleanser got washed out of the system. Once I started that load I decided to gather up all my laundry, then it went on for me to gather all the towels, then I gathered all the boys' laundry... My relaxing morning sans baby was quickly turning into laundry day part two.

My mom called me asking for help delivering flyers to her "farm" so I get up from watching TV and take a quick shower before I headed over. As I was getting ready to go I couldn't find my diaper bag/purse (yeah I'm THAT mom who stopped using purse and uses a diaper bag instead) I realized that Rex must have had it in his truck because we were out to dinner for Crystals birthday the night before and he packed up the kids and all our stuff and put it in the trunk and I didnt realize it. I called my mom apologizing saying I couldn't go help her until after my massage. I folded laundry and pumped before Crystal picked me up for our massage.

We were slightly late to our massages but it was ahhhh-mazing. I need to go back again to fully compare it to my other favorite spas. We didn't get the full spa experience because they didn't have any tubs available to have a soak. (already Burke Williams gets a better rating because even with just a massage you get to use their hot tub for free... but this is a shared tub and Watercourse Way has private tubs)

After the massage I got home around 2, which left me an entire hour before I left to get the boys. You'd think I'd sit down and relax a little bit right? I SHOULD have, instead I unloaded the dishes, loaded some more dishes and did some more puttering around the house. By the time I got home with the boys at 4 it was time to start dinner and Rex got home soon after and asked me "how was Momma's day off?" A momma's work is never done...

My little monsters

Ry: Get out of my seat!!! (to me)
Me: don't you love me? Share your seat with me!
Rex: Ry, let Mommy sit there, you're supposed to be nice to her, it's Mother's Day!
Ry: NO! It NOT Mommy's Mudders Day! (someone clearly needed a nap)

Ry with sticky fingers: I all done!
Me: are you ready to take a shower?
Ry: YEAH!!! I can clean my hands in the shower!
he was too thrilled that he didnt have to wash his hands after eating dessert

JUST as I click C in his carseat to go to Costco (and right after I had changed a peepee diaper) he let out a HUGE poop. I decided to let him sit on it a minute and "finish things up" After about a minute I asked him "are you done yet?" he smiles, grunts and poops one more time. Gee thanks for that son.

Today I picked Ry up from daycare, on the way home I decided to take a Krispy Kreme detour. Ry asked "where you going?" I said "getting some donuts" once we were at the light to turn into Krispy Kreme, Ry said "I hungry" I said "do you want to get some chicken nuggets?" thinking he saw the McD's sign and wanted a happy meal. He said "No, donut hungry"

We're starting to potty train Ry, and Rex took Rys pants iff to put him on the potty. Ry escaped the bathroom and came running to me shouting, "I a princess! I a princess!!!"
I guess once his pants came off his shirt was  transformed to a princess dress.

Mother's Day

On Mother's Day I still feel like its more about seeing family and my mother, MIL and grandmothers. I dont know it just doesnt feel like it should be about ME. So I said that on Saturday I wanted that to be my mothers day. It didnt really end up being that way but Rex took me to buy plants for my herb garden. We still havent planted them and hopefully they don't die before we do. Thats what happens a lot of the time. We buy plants and then forget to plant them forever and they die.

Mother's day was still great, we went to lunch with my grandma, she lives about an hour away so its a long haul to bring the kids that far for an hour lunch. Ry was awesome though and behaved and ate his lunch like a good boy. Cole slept the whole time and we had a very calm lunch. After lunch we went straight home to feed and change Colton, get the beans for the potluck and then were straight out again for dinner at Rex's grandmas. Ry slept a little on the car ride there but not much and he didnt nap much before lunch on the way there either. He was definitely due for a nap. He was a total monster at Rex's grandmas, running around with all his cousins and being wild. In fairness to him THEY were wild too and that added to his wildness. I just wanted Rex to watch him and keep him out of trouble but he said that it wasnt fair to Ry to make him stay downstairs when the other kids were downstairs. I was holding Colton so i didnt feel like chasing him down and it's not MY grandmas house, so I didnt want to run all over the place like I owned it.

Rex and the boys gave me a gift card to a spa that i've wanted to try. My mom gave me a photo album (she also gave me the same one for christmas lol) and Rexs mom gave me 4 Kara's cupcakes... Fleur de sel, raspberry dazzle, strawberry something or other and s'mores. They're all SO yummy. I shared the strawberry and s'more with rex, the other two are still waiting for me to eat them.

Bubbs: Just farting

Bubbs: I don't have any coconuts! (throwing hands up in the air)
Me: Why not?
Bubbs: You ate them all!
Me: No I didn't!
Bubbs: Oh... Maybe Donald did.

what baby brother is up to

Since I started this blog to remember the cute things my kidS do, I think I need to mention "baby brother" as Bubbs calls him. I can't believe I will be going back to work in a month. With Bubbs it was easier to go back to work because I had either three or four days off at work. We had a lot of time together since only one of my days off was on a weekend. Sunday was a day for the three of us to hang out, but I'd have Monday Tuesday and every other Wednesday off and it was just me and Bubbs. I'm really going to miss that time with C. I wonder if all moms of more than one kid feel this way. I feel that C's getting cheated out of precious Mommy time :(

He's just the most precious thing. He laughs and smiles so much. He's going to be quite a talker too. He loves babbling at anyone who will listen. This kid is growing up too fast. At his two month appointment he was in the 95th percentile for height and weight. I miss having a tiny baby around. It seems like he's growing up even faster than Bubbs did. He already tries to sit up! He sits in his bouncy seat and crunches up to a sitting position. The other day I put him in the boppy pillow and he was able to hold himself up. He's been sleeping 8 hours at a time at night, in his own bassinet next to my bed, but soon he'll be moving into Bubbs room. I just want him to be more consistent with his bedtimes. If he goes to bed too early (around 8) he wakes up at 3 and I don't want him to wake Bubbs up too.

Gorgeous Spring day

Today was so beautiful, there was no way we were going to stay inside while Daddy went on a motorcycle ride. Once Bubbs finished his breakfast I got the boys dressed and ready to go. I slathered Bubbs full of sunblock, got his shoes on and gave him his sunglasses. He asked me "we going to Disneyland?" I laughed but the question broke my heart. I told him "no we aren't going to Disneyland" he didn't seem too disappointed but asked "Disneyland closed?" I explained to him that no Disneyland was not closed, but it was very far away and we couldn't go there today. I'm sure he probably didn't understand but he accepted my answer. We haven't been to Disneyland since Mother's day last year, and we probably won't go again until after summer is over. My poor deprived children LOL.

Today we had my in laws over for dinner and I made sliders. This is one of my favorite dinners to entertain with (although only the second time I've done it) We had pulled pork, turkey and regular beef sliders with all the fixings. Sauteed onions, tiny tomatoes, lettuce, bacon, avocado... Potato salad and regular salad. It was a hit with everyone and we still have some leftover pulled pork for lunch tomorrow.

The best part of any meal is dessert of course. On our walk this afternoon we stopped at the ice cream shop (Queen Bee Ice Cream). They share their space with an angel food cake bakery (Angel Heart Cakes Bakery).  Bubbs got a rainbow sherbet and I got a lavender ice cream. Both were delicious (in the past I had ginger ice cream and that was amazing) The lavender didn't really taste like lavender, but it was still good. While we were there I got an angel food cake with strawberries baked in. I never really liked angel food cake as a kid. The kind my mom got was from the grocery store and they made my teeth feel funny. I didn't have high hopes for this cake but wanted to try them out since they looked interesting. OMG this cake was so delicious. I've had three slices tonight. Thank goodness my mother in law and her husband left before dessert so there were plenty of leftovers. :) The cake was moist and the top was crispy and chewy and utterly YUM. I'm so sad that I'll have to wait two days before I can get another one. They're closed Sunday and Monday. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to tough it out. They even have cupcakes made with angel food... just covered in buttercream :)
